Women in Medicine – Dr. Kristie Rohman Q&A

by | Sep 18, 2020 | News

1. Why did you pursue medicine?

I really loved biology class in high school.  I had a fun and inspiring teacher who was also a nurse and she made me very interested in the medical aspect of biology. I knew at that point I wanted to go into medicine.

2. What made you choose pediatrics?

Before I knew that I wanted to pursue medicine, I knew that I would work with children.  Every job I have every had has been centered around child care and development.  I love nothing more than to spend my days hanging out with kids! Once I decided to go to medical school, my choice of pediatrics was already made!

3. What do you love most about your job?

Of course I love the children the most.  What better job would there be than to hold a new born baby, chat about life with a 5 year old, and make a teenager feel better about the difficulties they may be struggling with all in one day! Children’s Medial Group also has an outstanding group of dedicated staff who make my job easy and my day such much more fun!

4. What would you tell a younger girl who wants to be a doctor?

I frequently tell my young patients who tell me all about their home doctor kit and taking care of the their baby dolls, that they can be anything they want to be!  I also encourage the older ones to come hang out with me for a day if they want to see what a day in the life of a pediatrician is like!
