Steven P. Chevalier, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Chevalier joined Children’s Medical Group in 1999. Dr. Chevalier was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Mississippi in 1990 and then earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1994. He then completed his Pediatric training at the University of South Carolina/Greenville Memorial Hospital and served as Chief Resident following his residency. He is married and has 2 children. In his spare time he enjoys playing the guitar, reading, Ole Miss football, and collecting art.

Parker L. Ellison, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Ellison joined Children’s Medical Group in 1993. He was born in San Francisco, CA, but his family has been long time residents of Mississippi. Dr. Ellison did his undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi, San Francisco State University, and the University of Malta. As an undergraduate, he was on the Ole Miss Swim team and also was in the Glee Club. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1990 and completed his Pediatric training at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Dr. Ellison is married with 4 children and enjoys tennis, basketball, and cycling. He also has an interest in medical missions. Dr. Ellison enjoys the many relationships that he has developed over the years with his patients and their families.

Erwyn E. Freeman, Jr., M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Freeman joined Children’s Medical Group in 1975. Dr. Freeman graduated from Millsaps College in 1968 and then earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1972 and completed his Pediatric training at University Children’s Hospital in Jackson. Dr. Freeman is active in the local medical societies. He is married with children and enjoys farming in his spare time.

Jaye K. Myers, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Myers joined Children’s Medical Group in 2002. She is a native of Durant, MS and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1994. Dr. Myers earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and remained there for her Pediatric training. During her residency, Dr. Myers received the Blair E. Batson award for Pediatrics, the Pediatric Teaching award, and the award for the Outstanding Pediatric Resident. She also served as Chief Resident at the Batson Children’s Hospital. Dr. Myers is married with 2 children and enjoys running and working at summer camps.

Katherine B. Patrick, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Patrick joined Children’s Medical Group in 2015. A native of Columbia, SC, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of South Carolina in 2008. Dr. Patrick earned her medical degree from The Medical University of South Carolina in 2012 and completed her pediatric training at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2015. Dr. Patrick is married with one child. She enjoys cooking, college football, and attending food & music festivals.

Amanda S. Penny, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Penny joined Children’s Medical Group in 2008. She is a native of Port Gibson, MS and graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering in 2000. Dr. Penny earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2004 and completed her Pediatric training at the University of California, Davis where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Penny is married with two children and enjoys tennis, exercise, and travel in her spare time.

Catherine P. Phillippi, M.D. Currently Not Accepting New Patients

Dr. Phillippi joined Children’s Medical Group in 2004. She earned the Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi College in 1994 and her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1999. Dr. Phillippi completed her Pediatric training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Prior to joining CMG, Dr. Phillippi practiced for two years in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Phillippi is married with 3 children and enjoys cooking, reading, exercise, and being active in her church.

Kristie S. Rohman, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Rohman joined Children’s Medical Group in 2007. She is a native of Clarksdale, MS and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi College in 2000. Dr. Rohman earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2004 and remained there for her Pediatric training. Dr. Rohman is married with two children. She enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling with her family.

R. Joseph Russell, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Russell joined Children’s Medical Group in 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1994 and completed his Pediatric training at Louisiana State University (New Orleans); serving as Chief Resident. Before joining CMG, Dr. Russell practiced at the Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson training future pediatricians. Dr. Russell is married and his favorite event is Mardi Gras.

Darren T. Scoggin, M.D. Accepting New Patients, effective July 17, 2017

Dr. Scoggin is joining Children’s Medical Group on July 17, 2017. Dr. Scoggin is a native of Ellisville, MS. He received undergraduate education at Jones County Junior College, followed by The University of Southern Mississippi. He then completed medical school and Pediatric residency at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Sarah, and they have two incredible daughters. When he is not working or spending time with his family, Dr. Scoggin enjoys reading, playing the piano, and being involved in his church, where he serves as deacon.

Amy B. Shepherd, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Shepherd joined Children’s Medical Group in 2012. A native of Shelby, MS, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Millsaps College in 1997. Dr. Shepherd earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2001 and completed her Pediatric training there in 2004. Before coming to CMG, Dr. Shepherd served as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UMC specializing in pediatric emergency medicine. Dr. Shepherd is married with one child and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and boating.

William H. Smith, Jr., M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Smith joined Children’s Medical Group in 1979. Dr. Smith was born in Atlanta, GA but has lived in Mississippi since 1962. He graduated Cum Laude from Millsaps College in 1972. Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1976 and completed his Pediatric training at the University Children’s Hospital in Jackson. Dr. Smith has served as Chief of Pediatrics at both Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and Central Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Smith is married with 3 children and 5 grandchildren and enjoys spectator sports, weight training, and gardening.

Joanna M. Storey, M.D. Accepting New Patients

Dr. Storey joined Children’s Medical Group in 2000. She grew up in Jackson and graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University in History and Literature in 1998. Dr. Storey earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1995 and completed her Pediatric training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Storey is married with 5 children. As the mother of two sets of twins, she has a particular interest in families with multiples.
